Welcome to this Tech for Progress Inc. site and mobile app, operated by Tech for Progress Inc. d/b/a IN Tech for Progress Inc. (“Tech for Progress,” “Company,” “us,” or we”). At Tech for Progress we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

  • Voting wait time information you submit, including, but not limited to, vote center locations, dates, times of day, and/or estimated wait times.

  • Geolocation data, including GPS coordinates. 

  • Your responses to surveys that we might ask you to complete for research purposes.

  • Details of donations you carry out through our Services and of the fulfillment of your orders. You may be required to provide financial information before making a donation through our Services.

  • Your search queries on the Services.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies

As you navigate through and interact with our Services, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

  • Details of your visits to our Services, including traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Services.

  • Service Analytics. Tech for Progress also uses third-party analytics software as a tool for tracking and analyzing its web traffic. This third-party analytics software is in use by Tech for Progress Services and use a combination of first-party cookies and JavaScript code to compile information that is synthesized into reports about page visits, referring sites, user habits, and the like. These third-party analytics software providers are not provided access to any user information other than IP addresses.

How We Use Your Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information:

  • To present our Services and its contents to you.

  • To provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us.

  • To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.

  • To provide you with notices about your account.

  • To provide Indiana residents with information related to voting wait times at certain polling locations in Indiana.

  • To provide Indiana residents with information related to the location of certain polling locations in Indiana.

  • To validate location information. 

  • To analyze and/or summarize voting wait times and/or the number of voters at polling locations in Indiana.

  • To communicate with you in relation to our Services.

  • To perform analysis on for the purpose of informing public policy on access to voting.

  • In any other way we may describe when you provide the information.

  • For any other purpose with your consent.

We may also use your information to contact you about our own and third-parties’ services or volunteer opportunities that may be of interest to you.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated information about our users without restriction. 

We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this privacy policy:

  • To our subsidiaries and affiliates.

  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.

  • To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Tech for Progress’ assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Tech for Progress about our users is among the assets transferred.

In choosing to do so, you may provide us with information that we use to send you information, evaluate and process your request or application, or provide you with the services you request.

  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.

  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.

  • To enforce or apply our Terms of Service (available at https://www.intechforprogress.org/terms-of-service) and other agreements.

  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tech for Progress, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information: 

  • Tracking Technologies and Advertising. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. Please consult your browser’s documentation to learn how. Note that certain portions of the Services may not operate as intended if you refuse certain cookies.

  • Promotional Offers from Tech for Progress. If you do not wish to have your email address/contact information used by Tech for Progress to promote our own Services, you can opt-out by using the UNSUBSCRIBE feature in the email you receive from Tech for Progress, which will remove you from future email distributions. This opt out does not apply to information provided to Tech for Progress as a result of a donation, or activity on the Service.

We do not control third parties’ collection or use of your information to serve interest-based advertising. However these third parties may provide you with ways to choose not to have your information collected or used in this way. 

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

If you are a user who has a registered account(s) on the Services (a “Registered User”), you can review and change some of your Personal Information by logging into the Services and visiting your account management page, or contacting us at the information below. 

Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Services. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Services.

Account Security and Confidentiality Requirements for Registered Users

All computer programs, manuals, materials, forms, facilities, ideas, concepts, techniques, and know-how used, prepared or developed by us, and any improvements, extensions, or modifications thereof, are and shall remain the exclusive property of the Company, and may not be used by you, your agents, employees, or others, without our prior written consent.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page or with a notice that the privacy policy has been updated on the Services’ home page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you by email to the email address specified in your account and/or through a notice on the Services’ home page.
